FREE College Workshops!

South County Cal-SOAP invites all K-12 students, parents, and staff to join us in our mission of creating educated communities, one student at a time. We are offering an extensive list of workshops, you may choose two that interest you. Bring your colleagues and friends to learn more about how you can motivate students to set goals, by promoting a college-going culture. 

 

Talleres sobre la Universidad ¡GRATIS!

South County Cal-SOAP les invita a todos los estudiantes de Kínder a 12º grado, a los padres y al personal a que se unan a nosotros en la creación de comunidades educadas, un estudiante a la vez. Estamos ofreciendo una extensa lista de talleres en donde usted podrá escoger dos del tema que más le interese. Traigan a sus compañeros de la escuela y a sus amigos para que sepan más sobre lo que se puede hacer para motivar a los estudiantes a que tengan metas, a través de promover el que asistan a la universidad.

PSAT/NMSQT - Why a school-wide initiative? How does it benefit our staff and students as a whole?

Gain access to this free online portal with resources to help parents and students in grades 9-16 learn about college, careers, financial aid, and financial literacy. Parents will create accounts during this work workshop.

Road To College: Inform Freshmen of the requirements needed to get to college. In addition, inform them of the college types and different routes they can take. They will learn an overview of what they should be doing their Freshman year (ex: activities, sports, rigorous courses, etc.).

Road To College: Inform students in the 11th grade about college requirements: A-G, SAT/ACT, personal statements. Provide information on how to prepare for their senior year and the process of selecting what colleges to apply to.

You've helped hundreds of students and families with their financial aid applications, but there is always something new to learn. Spend an hour with a financial aid expert and avoid new pitfalls in the process!

This will be a detailed line by line review of the FAFSA and Dream ACT process. This is the nitty-gritty, not an overview, and is designed to prepare staff for helping complete financial aid and individuals familiar with the financial aid process.
